Fire sprinklers saved two commercial buildings during the month of August in the City of Brookfield.

On August 7, fire sprinklers controlled a fire at Crete Industries and another fire at the unoccupied Argo Vesley building on August 29.

Fire Chief John Dahms said the incidents helped to illustrate the importance of the city’s requirement for sprinkler systems in commercial buildings.

The Argo Vesley building’s sprinkler system helped contain the blaze in about 15 minutes. The first crew used less than 50 gallons of water from the hose line, Dahms said.

“We had two saves due to sprinkler systems in the month of August that wouldn’t have been there otherwise,” Dahms said. “It would have meant total losses.”
