The Advanced Fiber Products Company reported
another fire since 2002, in which sprinklers extinguished
the fire before firefighters arrived. On May 19th, firefighters
responded to a fire in the storage area. When they arrived,
they found two spinklers had fused and extinguished the fire.
Advanced Fiber makes fiberglass products and
utilizes a large quantity of flammable and combustible liquids
for their manufacturing process. “The fire did little
damage and the plant was up and running the next day”,
said Div. Chief of Inspection, Jeffery L. Brohmer. “Without
the sprinkler system extinguishing the fire, more flammable
liquids would have ignited causing the fire to be much worse
and operations at the plant would not have resumed so quickly.”
