Glenwood Apartment Fire
Kenosha

Kenosha firefighters responded to a fire alarm in a building unit at the Glenwood Apartments. An elderly man was treated for smoke inhalation after his apartment caught fire while he was cooking food on a stove. The fire was quickly doused because apartments were protected by sprinklers. Water damaged did affect six apartments and the total damage estimate was $40,000, according to Matthew Haerter, Kenosha Fire Department battalion chief.

"When fire occurs and there are sprinklers, it usually means injuries and damage are minor," Haerter said. "If there hadn’t have been a sprinkler system, there very well could have been a fire death and significant damage."
