Recycling Center
Janesville
An early morning fire at the Janesville
Recycling Center was contained by a fire sprinkler, allowing
employees to go back to work later in the day. The fire
started directly under a sprinkler head in the staging
area where employees prepare paper and cardboard for baling.
The sprinkler contained the fire to a 40 x10 square-foot
space and prevented damage to equipment
"The sprinkler system did a really
good job of holding the fire in check," said
Capt. Bill Ruchti. "That's probably what saved the building."
