March 16, 2006
stoughton trailers, stoughton

As personnel attempted to repair a semi-trailer door brace in a spray booth, a torch they were using created a spark or ember that ignited either filters or residue inside the ducts.

The Stoughton Fire Department responded to the call at 4:18 a.m. By the time firefighters arrived, two sprinklers inside the booth and one above it extinguished the blaze. Deputy Chief and Fire Marshal Scott Wegner said, “Firefighters just had to spray 50 gallons of water to extinguish debris on top of the spray booth.” All fire units returned to quarters by 5:45 a.m.

After the activated sprinklers were replaced and repairs were made to the booth, operations continued by about noon the same day. No damage occurred to the 386,000 sq. ft. building.
