Firefighters from the Sheboygan Fire Department responded
to a fire located in an apartment bedroom. A woman fell asleep
while smoking a cigarette that ignited the bed's comforter.
One fire sprinkler in the bedroom activated
and extinguished the fire, likely saving the woman’s
life. Smoke and water damage were contained primarily to the
first floor bedroom, although some water did seep into the
basement damaging drywall and insulation.
