WPS Pullman Plant
Green Bay

The Green Bay Fire Dept. responded to a call at the WPS Pulliam Plant. A large transformer containing about 100 gallons of oil shorted out and the insulators exploded, causing oil to escape from the bushing on the top and burn. The sprinkler system surrounding the body of the transformer activated and cooled the transformer. As the transformer cooled, the fire subsided. "Another ‘save’ for sprinkler systems,” said Battalion Chief Dan Truckey.
